
PRE-KINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN SCREENING -- Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Screening for students in the Chaffee R-II School District will be held on Wednesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 28 from 8:00 am-1:00 pm at Chaffee Elementary School (408 Elliott Avenue). Children turning 4 on or before July 31, 2024 should be screened for entry into Pre-Kindergarten, and children turning 5 on or before July 31, 2024 should be screened for entry into Kindergarten. Please contact Chaffee Elementary at 887-3244 to schedule an appointment. Please bring your child along to the screening with his/her: (1) birth certificate, (2) shot record, (3) social security card, and (4) address verification. Screening takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.


CHAFFEE R-2 SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH (MARCH 2024) -- Governor Michael Parson proclaimed the month of March 2024 as School Board Recognition Month. The Chaffee R-2 School District is honoring the service of our local Board of Education during the week of March 11-15, 2024. REMINDER -- NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS ON MARCH 11! There will be no school for students at CES or CHS on Monday, March 11, due to a Professional Development Day for Teachers. However, CTC students will have classes, and a bus will be provided for CTC students.


REMINDER -- SOLAR ECLIPSE SHIRT ORDERS DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, MARCH 8! The Chaffee Chamber of Commerce is selling shirts made for the upcoming Solar Eclipse. The shirt design was made by our very own Chaffee Schools Art Department. All shirts are $15.00. Money is due when the shirts are ordered. All sales need to be made by Friday, March 8, and order forms and payment can be turned into the office.


1ST AND 2ND GRADE SPRING MUSIC CONCERT – The 1st and 2nd Grade Spring Music Concert is Thursday, March 7, at 6:00 pm in the Elementary Gym. Students should arrive at 5:40 pm and go to their classroom. Their teacher will be waiting for them there. The theme of the concert is the Great Outdoors!


CONGRATULATIONS CARLYANNE COSSOU AND CARA KELLY! Congrats to Carlyanne Cossou and Cara Kelly who competed in the 2024 SEMO Regional Science Fair. Cara Kelly won 2nd place in the Chemistry division. Carlyanne Cossou won 2nd place in her division, the Naval Science Award, the United States Air Force Outstanding Project Award, and the Yale Science & Engineering Association's Most Outstanding Exhibit Award. Also, Carlyanne was one of the three runners up at the SEMO Science Fair for the International Science Fair in Los Angeles. Congratulations to Cara and Carlyanne on these outstanding awards!


SPRING SPORTS PICTURES (PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGES) ON MARCH 7 -- Spring sports pictures will be taken on Thursday, March 7, beginning at 12:15 pm. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIMES FROM THE ORIGINAL POST -- 12:15 pm – JH Track; 12:45 pm - E-Sports; 1:00 pm - HS Track; 1:30 pm – HS Baseball. Students will be called out of class 15 minutes before pictures to dress in uniforms and get ready.

CONGRATULATIONS ELI NIX! Eli competed at the District History Day at Southeast Missouri State University and received Third Place in the Senior Individual Exhibit for his exhibit “Enigma”. Eli qualified for State competition in Columbia in April. CHS History teacher, Andy Cannon, was Eli's sponsor for History Day.

FIRST ANNUAL SCIENCE SHOWCASE (GRADES 7-12) ON MARCH 6 -- The First Annual Science Showcase is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the High School Activity Center. See the projects that the 7th-12th grades have been working on. This is open to the public. Beta Club will be selling popcorn, candy, and drinks. Awards will be presented at 7:45 pm.

REMINDER -- WINTER SPORTS BANQUET (MARCH 4) – Reminder that the Winter Sports Banquet will be on Monday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the HS Activity Center. The menu will be Mac N’ Cheese Bar (with toppings), Salad, and Red Lobster Biscuits. $10.00 for guests. Athletes and coaches eat free. The Booster Club is asking for Booster Club members and/or parents to help bring desserts. There will be a Booster Club meeting after the banquet.
