CONGRATULATIONS CARLYANNE COSSOU FOR BREAKING THE SCHOOL RECORD IN THE 400 METERS -- Carlyanne Cossou broke the 400 Meter School Record at the Cape Central Invite on April 12, 2025. Running the event for the 1st time this season, she dominated the field placing 1st with a winning time of 58.52. The previous record, set in 2003 by Jennifer (Vandeven) Lynn, was 1:01. Carlyanne adds her name to the record board for the 4th time (100 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, and high jump). Congratulations Carlyanne!

STUDENT COUNCIL - EGG MY YARD FOR EASTER (Order Deadline April 12 / Eggs delivered April 19) -- Leave the work to the Chaffee Student Council! CHAFFEE JR/SR PROM ON SATURDAY, APRIL 12 -- The Chaffee High School Junior/Senior Prom is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, from 7:00-11:00 pm in the High School Gymnasium. The Grand March begins at 7:00 pm. Doors will open at 6:30. Coronation is at 10:15. The night will include music, dancing, refreshments, and a photo booth. Prom tickets must be purchased by Thursday, April 10! Please see Mrs. Swinford to purchase your tickets.
HS TRACK MEET AT NEW MADRID CANCELED ON APRIL 10 -- The High School Track Meet at New Madrid on Thursday, April 10th, has been canceled. They are looking for a make-up date. The Junior High Track Meet at Scott City on Thursday, April 10th, is still on as of now.
VARSITY BASEBALL GAME UPDATE -- Varsity Red Devils Baseball will play Charleston on Tuesday, April 8th, at Chaffee with a 5:00 start. This game was originally scheduled for April 21st.
DELTA TORNADO RELIEF FUND -- Wednesday, April 2nd, the city of Delta was struck by a powerful EF-2 tornado, causing widespread damage throughout the community. Homes and business were impacted and many families are now left without basic necessities. To support our neighbors in need, the Chaffee Beta Club, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Robotics and several other high school organizations are working together to collect essential items for those affected. Your donations can and will make a real difference in helping Delta recover and rebuild. Donations are being accepted through Friday, April 11th, between normal school hours at the high school. Items being accepted include:
Bottled Water; Non-Perishable Food (granola bars, canned meals, baby food); Storage Totes; Trash Bags; Flashlights & Batteries; Phone Chargers, Phone Power Banks; Gas Cards; Generators; Tarps, Bungee Cords, Rope; Diapers, Wipes, Hygiene Items; and Monetary Donations (school clubs will purchase items so you don't have to!)

REMINDER -- EARLY DISMISSAL DAY ON MONDAY, APRIL 7 -- Chaffee Elementary and Jr/Sr High School will have an Early Dismissal Day on Monday, April 7th. Classes will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. Afternoon Cape Career and Technology Center (CTC) students are expected to attend CTC and transportation will be provided.
APRIL IS NATIONAL SCHOOL LIBRARY MONTH! National School Librarian Appreciation Day is Friday, April 4. National School Library Week is April 6-12, 2025. National School Library Workers Day is Tuesday, April 8. Thank you Ms. Mossman, our Chaffee School District Elementary and Jr/Sr High School librarian, for keeping our school libraries organized and for instilling the love of reading and technology in our students and staff at CES and the Jr/Sr High School. We appreciate all that Ms. Mossman does for Chaffee School District! CANCELED – JUNIOR HIGH TRACK MEET ON APRIL 4TH -- The Junior High Track Meet at the Jackson Invitational on Friday, April 4, 2025, has been canceled due to impending weather and wet track conditions.

Baseball will hold practice immediately after school in the activity center.
1ST GRADE FIELD TRIP POSTPONED AND WILL BE RESCHEDULED! Our 1st grade field trip that was scheduled for Thursday, April 3, at the Bootheel Youth Museum in Malden will be RESCHEDULED due to the damage from the storm and the route we must take to get to the museum. We will keep you updated about a new date ASAP.

RED DEVILS BASEBALL UPDATE!! The Varsity baseball game scheduled on Wednesday at New Madrid has been MOVED to TODAY (Tuesday, April 1st) at HOME (Chaffee) with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 pm!
Chaffee R-2 will host a meeting on Friday, April 4th at 6:00 pm to discuss the state of the football program and the possibility of Co-oping with Scott City for the 2025-2026 school year. The meeting will be held in the CHS Activity Center.
STUDENT COUNCIL HELLO SMILES WEEK (MARCH 31-APRIL 4) – Hello Smiles Week kicks off on Monday, April 31. Student Council is sponsoring a Hello Smiles Week at CHS on March 31-April 4. This week is all about kindness and inclusion, and Student Council can’t wait to share all of the activities that they have planned with all of the students at CHS.
