CONGRATULATIONS CARLYANNE COSSOU AND AYNE' HELD! Carlyanne Cossou broke the 100 meter hurdles record at the Dexter track meet with a time of 16.75 seconds. The previous record holder was Cassie Hindman who graduated from CHS in 2012. Ayné Held broke the school javelin record at the Dexter track meet with a throw of 116'8". The previous record was 106'7" and was held by Grace Knutson since 2018. Congratulations to Carlyanne and Ayné!

SENIOR PARENTS -- The due date for Senior Recognition Ads is Sunday, March 31st. If you are planning on placing a senior ad, please do so as soon as possible so that Mrs. Knutson can ensure that there is space for all orders. You can place your order and design your own senior ad on jostens.com/yearbooks or you can email your photos and tribute note to Mrs. Knutson at anna.knutson@chaffeer2.org. Please include any design requests you have in that email. There are 4 options available: Full page ad-$140; Half page ad-$75; 1/4 page-$40; 1/8 page (business card size)-$35. Cash, Checks, or Venmo accepted. Please reach out to Mrs. Knutson with any questions. Also, Senior yearbook photos are due on March 31, 2024. Senior Class of 2024 Reminder -- Graduation announcements will be distributed on Thursday, March 21st during lunch for all students who ordered from Jostens. All payments can be made online at www.thegraduationcenter.com or contacting their office. Jostens will not accept any check payments at deliveries. The office has a list of all money owed.

BRIGGS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FOR CURRENT SENIORS AND PAST GRADUATES -- The Briggs Scholarship application is now available for seniors and past graduates. The application can be picked up at the High School Reception Office or can be found online on the High School website https://www.chaffeer2.org/page/counselors-office (Under Scholarship Information and Deadlines tab). Every Chaffee High School graduating Senior and Chaffee High School graduate under the age of 28 years attending undergraduate college, junior college, vocational school, or technical school is eligible. Graduate students are not eligible. REMINDER: Briggs Scholarship recipients must renew EVERY semester and apply EVERY YEAR in order to continue receiving the scholarship. The following items MUST be returned to the Counselor’s Office at Chaffee High School, 517 West Yoakum Avenue, Chaffee, MO 63740 in a sealed envelope no later than Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. (1) Completed Application (3 pages). The application can be picked up at the HS Reception Office or found online on the HS website. (2) Typed essay (see page 2 of application for instructions). (3) First page of your parent(s)/guardian(s) last filed tax return (1040). (4) PREVIOUS GRADUATES – You must also include with your application a self- addressed envelope with current postage prepaid. This envelope will be used to advise you of any amounts awarded. PRE-KINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN SCREENING -- Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Screening for students in the Chaffee R-II School District will be held on Wednesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 28 from 8:00 am-1:00 pm at Chaffee Elementary School (408 Elliott Avenue). Children turning 4 on or before July 31, 2024 should be screened for entry into Pre-Kindergarten, and children turning 5 on or before July 31, 2024 should be screened for entry into Kindergarten. Please contact Chaffee Elementary at 887-3244 to schedule an appointment. Please bring your child along to the screening with his/her: (1) birth certificate, (2) shot record, (3) social security card, and (4) address verification. Screening takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
CHAFFEE R-2 SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH (MARCH 2024) -- Governor Michael Parson proclaimed the month of March 2024 as School Board Recognition Month. The Chaffee R-2 School District is honoring the service of our local Board of Education during the week of March 11-15, 2024. REMINDER -- SOLAR ECLIPSE SHIRT ORDERS DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, MARCH 8! The Chaffee Chamber of Commerce is selling shirts made for the upcoming Solar Eclipse. The shirt design was made by our very own Chaffee Schools Art Department. All shirts are $15.00. Money is due when the shirts are ordered. All sales need to be made by Friday, March 8, and order forms and payment can be turned into the office.
