PEP BUS ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13 -- The Lady Devils Softball team plays in the District Semifinals Game at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 13, at Kelly High School. We will be taking a Pep Bus for Jr/Sr High School students that will leave at 2:15 p.m. There will be Permission Forms outside the office for students to pick up, fill out, have signed, and return. Every student who plans on riding the Pep Bus must have a Permission Form. To attend the game and ride the Pep Bus, you must do the following: (1) Prepay your $6 gate admission fee to the office with your name on it (exact amount only). (2) Turn your Permission Form in before Friday or on Friday as you are getting on the bus. (3) Bring your own money for concession purposes. AND, just like any athletic event you must ride the bus home OR have a PARENT sign you out at the game to excuse you from the bus.
JUNIOR HIGH LADY DEVILS BASKETBALL FINAL REGULAR SEASON GAME ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12 -- Come out and cheer on the Junior High Lady Devils as they take on the Kelly Lady Hawks in their regular season final game on Thursday, October 12, at 5:00 pm! REMINDER -- CHAFFEE PARENT GROUP MOVIE NIGHT IS THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14! The Chaffee Parent Group is excited to host the October 2023 Movie on the Lawn on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Chaffee Elementary School featuring the Halloween classic – “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Arrive at 5:30 p.m. to pick your seating and spot on the lawn (don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets). The Lady Devils Softball game scheduled for today (10/5/23) at Cape Central has been cancelled.
Tonight’s Junior High Girls Basketball game (10/5/23) at Meadow Heights has been cancelled due to them calling off school today because of a power outage. Girls will practice until approximately 4:00-4:15 in the Activity Center today.
Due to the field conditions, current rain, and forecast for the next 3.5 hours, the Lady Devils softball game today (10/4/23) has been cancelled.

This is a day in which we recognize and show appreciation to our custodians, assistant custodians, and maintenance staff who work tirelessly each day to ensure the smooth operation of our school buildings. There will be NO school on Friday, September 29th. However, the Cape Career & Technology Center (CTC) WILL have school. CTC students are still expected to attend and transportation will be provided. Also Monday, October 2nd is an Early Dismissal Day. Classes will be released at 1:30 p.m.

ALL YOU CAN EAT PANCAKE, SAUSAGE, AND EGGS BREAKFAST IS ON SEPTEMBER 23 -- The All You Can Eat Pancake, Sausage, and Eggs Breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, September 23, from 7:00 am to 9:30 am in the high school activity center. All proceeds will benefit the baseball and softball teams. To purchase your tickets in advance, see any CHS baseball or softball player or you can
purchase tickets at the door. Carry outs will be available. All ages are $10.00 per person.
Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Odyssey Launch the Close the Gap Grant Program
Today, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and Odyssey, a platform that helps states connect families to public funding and education services, announced the launch of the Missouri Close the Gap Grant program. This is a one-time grant of up to $1,500 for parents/guardians who reside in Missouri to use for allowable education expenses. Applications are now open and must be submitted by October 25, 2023.
To be eligible for the grant, students must be a Missouri resident and be enrolled in grades K-12 in a Missouri public school district or charter school. Per state statute, the distribution of funds will be prioritized for families whose income is below 185 percent of the federal poverty level. If sufficient funds are available after those below 185 percent of the federal poverty level receive funds, families at or above that poverty level may receive funds.
“Close the Gap is another way to support our mission to provide students access to opportunities," said Commissioner of Education Margie Vandeven. “In partnership with Odyssey, we are providing families a platform to search for and purchase the resources, tools, and enrichment their student needs to be successful inside and outside of the classroom.”
“Every student deserves access to a high-quality education, and Odyssey will provide Missouri families and students with convenient and modern technology to quickly and easily access funds to get what they need to succeed,” said Joseph Connor, founder and CEO at Odyssey. “The pandemic brought on unimaginable challenges for our students and their learning. Missouri’s Close the Gap Program will help support the ongoing efforts to accelerate learning and get students back on track.”
Close the Gap Grant applications will be administered on Odyssey's website, where families can access both the application and the Odyssey Marketplace. Listed below are additional program details and allowable educational expenses.
Program Details:
· Parents/guardians will need to create an Odyssey account to submit an application.
· If the system is unable to verify income level or residency through an automated process, parents/guardians will be requested to submit additional information.
Allowable educational expenses include
· Instructional resource materials;
· Tutoring;
· Academic day or summer camps;
· Computer equipment;
· Internet connectivity;
· Before- and afterschool educational programs;
· Course fees and textbooks;
· Online access for an academic app or subscription;
· Education, learning, or study skills services;
· Arts-related day or summer camps; and
· Art enrichment.
