REMINDER -- CES Back to School Night / Open House is Thursday, August 14th, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Come find your name at Back to School Night to see if you’re the “apple” of Dr. J’s eye! Doors open at 4:45 p.m. for a brief Federal Programs meeting in the cafeteria that begins at 4:50 p.m. The school will be open from 5:00-6:30 p.m. for students and parents to meet the teachers! Please have your child bring their supplies so their backpacks will be a little lighter on the first day of school. We can’t wait to welcome you back!

REMINDER – HIGH SCHOOL BAND CAMP IS AUGUST 11 - AUGUST 15. Monday, August 11: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 12: 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Friday, August 15: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. High School Band Members -- please remember to bring everything needed for your instrument, music flip-folder, water, sun-protective headgear, comfortable/cool clothing, and appropriate footwear for marching. Time will be split between outside practice and inside music rehearsal. There will be a break for lunch at 12:00 pm on full days. Students may bring their own lunch or leave campus for lunch.

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR AUGUST -- AUGUST 11 (MONDAY): Fall practices begin Monday, August 11th! Athletes must have a physical on record that is up to date to be able to practice on Day 1. If you are unsure if you have an up to date physical, please message our FB page. Your coaches will be in touch about the date and time of your first practice. Fall Handbook Meeting will be on Monday, August 11th, at 6:30 pm in the gym. This meeting will cover our handbook, new procedures and policies, and will allow players/parents to meet with their sports coaches for any fall or winter sports. Please make plans to attend. Students must have a handbook form signed and turned in before they can participate in a jamboree, game, or competition. **Our Handbook is digital this year & can be accessed with the QR code found on our Chaffee Red Devil Athletics Facebook page OR you can access our handbook, get the most up to date physical packet that you would need in the event you need a physical, and the MSHSAA annual participation form all on our school website: https://www.chaffeer2.org/page/students-handbook. AUGUST 18 (MONDAY): JH Football will start on Monday, August 18th! AUGUST 21 (THURSDAY) - Fall Sports Pictures and Senior Banner Pictures will be in the afternoon on Thursday August 21st. Teams taking pictures will be HS Softball, HS Cheer, JH Cheer, HS Cross Country, HS Band, and JH Football. Senior Banners for Fall Sports will be taken this day as well. *JH Girls Basketball will take pictures in November once their uniforms are in. AUGUST 25 (MONDAY): JH Girls Basketball will start on Monday, August 25th!

CHS ATHLETICS AND ACTIVITIES DEAD PERIOD AUGUST 2-10, 2025 -- The CHS Athletics and Activities Dead Period is August 2-10, 2025. During this time, there will be NO sports, practices, training, or conditioning. NO campus or facilities will be available. This is a time for our athletes, coaches, and their families to have a break and refresh before the fall season begins.

CHS ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER – BLITZ NIGHT - July 29th (Tuesday) is the CHS Athletic Department Fundraiser BLITZ Night. Our student athletes will be making their way through town from 4:00-7:00 p.m. selling $20 discount cards. Thank you for supporting Chaffee Athletics! NOTE TO ATHLETES: Please report to the gym at 3:45 p.m. to turn in money and unsold cards. Athletes will then be grouped together to go through town to make one more selling attempt from 4:00-7:00 p.m. When athletes return to the gym, there will be burgers, hot dogs, chips, sodas, Gatorade, water, etc., and the gym will be set up for some fun games and activities. The night should end at approximately 8:30 p.m.

REMINDER -- DISTRICT ENROLLMENT WILL TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 23RD FROM 7:00 A.M. TO 7:00 P.M. IN THE HIGH SCHOOL GYM. This is for both new and returning students. Please bring all your enrollment paperwork as well as your updated immunizations and outstanding fees or items you have been invoiced for with you. Just a few reminders: ~ This is for parents and students (both returning and new students). ~ No appointment time is needed. ~ Parents should fill out all forms prior to coming to the enrollment day and bring the completed forms with them. ~ Individual student school pictures (elementary and high school) and staff pictures will be taken by Cheekwood Studios. NO money is needed on Wednesday. All orders will be placed online, and Cheekwood will email a link to view and order school pictures. ~ Scott County Health Department will be available for students who need immunizations. {For Jr/Sr High School -- All incoming Seniors and 8th grade students are required to have for the 2025-2026 school year a meningococcal vaccination (the immunization must be specific as MCV4 NOS, Menactra or Menveo) unless exempt. In addition, all incoming 8th grade students will need a Tdap vaccine.} ~ Dental Safari will be available to sign up students for dental services. ~ Chromebook insurance will be available for $25.00 for students in grades 3-12 and can be paid at Enrollment Day (Pre-K through 2nd grade do not need Chromebook insurance). ~ There will be an athletics table to collect physicals and MSHSAA annual paperwork. Athletics fundraiser cards will be available. ~ If you have had a change of address, please bring proof of address such as your driver’s license, utility bill, real estate tax receipt, paystub, or real estate contract. ~ Students who are NEW to the district will need to bring proof of residency, birth certificate, and shot records. ~ Parents/students should be prepared to pay all remaining outstanding balances from the 2024-25 school year. ~ EOC/MAP scores will be distributed. ~ Lockers (Jr/Sr High School only) will be assigned. July 21 and 22 (Monday & Tuesday) from 8:00-9:30 a.m. – Combine Days - Chaffee athletics “combine” days of summer weightlifting & conditioning -- Athletes will test in the bench press, 40, vertical, broad jump, 400, pro agility, and more. Time is from 8:00-9:30 a.m. on both mornings. /// July 22 (Tuesday) at 10:00 a.m. in the high school gym – Kick off for our athletic department discount card fundraiser -- This is for ALL athletes in grades 6-12 that will participate in a JH or a HS sport this year, and we need ALL athletes to show up! Cards are $20, and we will receive over 50% on sold cards. CONGRATULATIONS TO CARLYANNE COSSOU – SEMOBALL AWARDS -- GIRLS TRACK ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARD AND FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARD! Southeast Missouri’s top 200 high school athletes from 56 high schools were honored at the 2025 Annual Semoball Awards on July 18th for the 2024-25 sports season, and Chaffee Athletics were well represented! Congratulations to Carlyanne Cossou for receiving 2 awards at the Semoball Awards Ceremony. Carlyanne was a nominee for the Crader Distributing and local Stihl Dealers Softball Athlete of the Year; a nominee and WINNER of the Edwards Jones Girls Track Athlete of the Year Award; and a nominee and WINNER of the Mercy Female Athlete of the Year. Ty Atkins was a nominee for the My Daddy’s Cheesecake Football Defensive Player of the Year Award as a sophomore. Easton Fowler was a nominee for the Fresh Healthy Café Baseball Athlete of the Year capping off an outstanding senior season. We are also proud that Chaffee High School received 2nd place in the Semoball Cup Award. The Semoball Cup Award is a prestigious award given annually to the high school in Southeast Missouri that has the most successful athletic season and recognizes the overall athletic success and excellence of a school's athletic program. CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN to these three CHS athletes on their Semoball recognition! And, congratulations to our CHS athletic program for 2nd place in the Semoball Cup Award and to all of our CHS athletes for their athletic successes during 2024-25!

CES AND CHS STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE FREE LUNCHES FOR THE 2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR -- Chaffee R-2 is pleased to announce that both Chaffee Elementary School (CES) and Chaffee High School (CHS) students will receive free lunches for the 2025-2026 school year. Previously, only CES students ate free; however, with the new application cycle both buildings now will participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). ** This does not eliminate current negative balances. Families are responsible for payment of any unpaid breakfast/lunch fees from previous school years. **Please note: Extra portions and Ala Carte items will continue to have charges.

The Chaffee R-2 School District will hold District Enrollment Day on Wednesday, July 23, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm in the High School gym. Enrollment forms will be mailed prior to July 23rd. Parents/guardians are asked to complete all of the information on each form and return completed forms during District Enrollment Day. Cheekwood Studios will be taking school photos of students and staff for the new school year. The Scott County Health Department will be available to give immunizations. Additional information will be sent out the week before District Enrollment Day.

CONGRATULATIONS BETA CLUB! Congratulations to the following Chaffee Senior Beta members who placed in the Top 10 at the National Beta Convention in Florida! Eli Nix - 3rd Place in 3-D Design. Zeke Wessel - 8th Place in Digitally Enhanced Photography. Chaffee Senior Beta - 7th Place in the National Service Project “Beta Serves Orlando”. Chaffee Beta had a part of donating over 14,000 school supply items given to the students of Orange County Schools. Eli Nix chaired the project. Congratulations CHS Beta Club!
